What makes a thesis statement strong
A thesis is the one or two sentences, usually at the end of your introduction, that tell the reader what you will prove. Purdue OWL and most university writing centres agree on three tests:
- It is arguable. A reasonable person could disagree. "Climate change is happening" is a fact; "wealthy countries should fund climate adaptation in poorer ones" is a thesis.
- It is specific. It names who, what and to what extent, so it can be proven in the length you have.
- It maps the essay. The reasons appear in the same order as your body paragraphs.

Questions students ask
How long should a thesis statement be?
Usually one sentence, occasionally two for longer papers. If it runs past about 40 words, it is probably trying to do the body paragraphs' job.
Where does the thesis go?
In most academic essays it is the last sentence (or two) of the introduction, so the reader meets it right before your first body paragraph.
Can I use the generated thesis as it is?
Treat it as a draft. Change the wording to your voice, make sure every reason is one you can back with evidence, and check your course policy on AI tools.
What if I don't have a position yet?
