How to make a paragraph longer the right way
Teachers can spot padding. Adding "in today's society" or repeating the point does not earn marks. Real expansion means doing more of the thinking:
- Explain the evidence. After a quote or statistic, add a sentence starting "This shows…" or "This matters because…".
- Add a specific example. Swap a general statement for a named case, date or place.
- Address an objection. "Some might argue… however…" adds depth in two sentences.
- Link back. End by connecting the point to your thesis.
