EssayTools is committed to protecting your privacy. We believe in transparency and user control over data.

Data Collection & Storage

What We Collect

• None on our servers. All your writing and generated content stays in your browser.
• Local Browser Storage: We use IndexedDB to store your generation history locally on your device for your convenience.

What We Don't Collect

• No personal information (name, email, etc.)
• No account creation required
• No user tracking or analytics beyond essential functionality
• Your writing content never leaves your browser except when sent to AI processing

AI Processing

AI Service Integration

When you use our tools (Thesis Generator, Paragraph Generator, Sentence Expander, Essay Outliner), we send your input to AI language models for processing:

• What's sent: Your essay topic, text input, and selected options (essay type, tone, style, etc.)
• Purpose: Generate writing assistance (thesis statements, expanded paragraphs, improved sentences, essay outlines)
• How it works: We use Vercel AI Gateway, which routes requests to various AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.)
• Data retention: Per AI provider policies, API inputs are not used for training models
• Third-party privacy: Review provider policies at https://openai.com/privacy and https://www.anthropic.com/privacy

Your Control

• All generated content is yours
• Delete your local history anytime (stored in your browser)
• No server-side storage of your writing

Cookies & Local Storage

We use browser storage technologies for:

• IndexedDB: Store your generation history locally (user-controlled)
• No tracking cookies: We don't use cookies for tracking or advertising

Third-Party Services

• Vercel AI Gateway: AI text generation routing to various providers (see AI Processing section above)
• No analytics: We don't use Google Analytics or similar tracking services

Your Rights

• Access: View your local history anytime in the tool interface
• Delete: Clear your history with one click in each tool
• Export: Copy or save any generated content
• Opt-out: Simply don't use the tools if you prefer not to

Children's Privacy

Our service is designed for students 13+ years old. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
